When we had puppies, we had a kennel warmer. It was like an electric pad but it was made of hard plastic. The size was about 2X3 ft. and 1 inch thick. It's made for animals, so its safe from animals chewing on it. I would put it under their blanket, so the warm came through nicely. Got it at Petsmart.
