I just don't think there is any 100% prevention for a tick or a flea to NOT jump up on a pet. You are a good Mommy for examining your fur baby and finding the tick and removing it. Sometimes the best medicine is petting all over your fur baby from head to toe touching to see if anything feels foreign.
We also camp and I spend minutes on end massaging Schatzie to see if any nasty bug has decided to land on her. There have been times I've found a tick on her (not imbedded) and killed the little sucker.
