When I saw your post, I knew you were in for it. That seems to be a real problem on this board. For whatever reason, people CANNOT
agree to disagree and leave it at that. It has to become overly personal, and ultimately vicious. (I'm assuming that's why at least one person is no longer on the board, having been banned, and at least one other was suspended.)
For what it's worth, I think I know what you were attempting to say and agreed with you for the most part. I don't believe you intended any harm, as people really were getting out of hand in what they were suggesting should be done. (I, too, was chastised for suggesting early on that they might be setting up for disaster if everyone on the thread called the police.)
But posting, like e-mail, lacks the ability to give proper tone and inflection, which can make a lot of things seem much differently than they intend.
