I must also mention this generally is the case when we walk away from him, when he sees us but we don't immediately acknowledge/go to him, at night when we head upstairs to go to bed... After all that barking, as soon as we finally acknowledge/go to him he usually stops barking. If not stop then the whole annoying process starts again.

I've tried the spray bottle, which works, but that means i have to catch him in the middle of barking. How do i get him to stop barking if i am not within a squirts distance away to catch him?
