If your dog mats easily, use a slicker brush (I think that's the right term). It has metal pins that are bent on the end. They get mats out very well. Just don't rake the skin with it. Do layer by layer, almost brushing side ways if you have to. If there is a mat, hold the hair at the roots between your fingers so that it doesn't pull on her skin while you work on getting it out. Have the groomer show you how to do it properly if you don't feel comfortable. But now that she is shaved, still brush her everyday so she gets used to it and you will be able to keep it mat free as it grows back in. |
