In our new house (two years now!), we have all laminate floors (no carpet!). I originally bought a Hoover Hard Floor machine thing (can't remember the exact name) and it did a fairly good job but it died. My cleaning lady (who comes twice a month) said that she saw this Bona X product at our local hardware store and had been wanting to try it out. So, I researched it on-line and then went and bought the starter kit at the store. I wanted to buy it locally so I could take it back if I didn't like it. This thing works beautifully! All you do is spray a section of the floor and then use the mop looking thing to wipe it. I won't lie, you feel like you've had a workout afterwards because when the microfiber pad gets damp from the spray, you really have to put some muscle into pushing it back and forth on the floor. I'm not meaning that is extremely difficult, it's just not as smooth and easy as say a mop on a wet floor.
A couple days before we were supposed to start moving our furniture in the new house, I went through the whole house and cleaned the floors with a Swiffer wet-jet. That thing is horrible! The floors looked worse afterwards. The streaks were awful! And any other product I tried that had water in it, just left the floors spotty. This Bona X thing truly is amazing.
As for the sweeping thing, I feel your pain! We are out in the country. We have an Australian Shepherd outside and two big fat fluffy outside cats. Tatum is the only animal inside yet the other animal hair always manages to get inside. That and the dirt and mess that comes with living in the country, of course. I have a Shark sweeper (cordless little vacuum thing) that I use at least twice a week all through the house (like this one...

I told my sister and SIL about the Bona X cleaning thing because they have laminate. I can't believe I forgot to share my great find with all of you..... especially after all the times people have asked about laminate floors. Hopefully others out there will find this product as great as I have!
