I don't think it hurt Sugar because she didn't yelp or even move away. I think she was in shock also. I don't think she kicked her hard enough to hurt, but a 2 yr old can't judge how hard is too hard. Sugar's acting fine, she doesn't act scared at all. It probably helps that the kids are eating graham crackers & Sugar's watching them like a hawk hoping they'll drop some crumbs. I wish I could put up a baby gate but my house is an open floor plan and I don't have anywhere to put up a baby gate...except the laundry room which has a gate up to keep Sugar out of the litter box. She'd love it if I put her in there...all the "cat snacks" she could eat! lol
I definitely learned my lesson about walking out of the room, even though the rooms are open & attached. I think Sugar's just such a calm dog & my kids are both older and after the kids had been here about 1/2 an hour I didn't think before I left the room. The little girl was in the study when I walked into the kitchen but they move so quickly & quietly that I didn't know she'd come into the lr until I walked back in...like I said, I just walked into the kitchen for a minute to throw something in the trash. My bad though, I'm so glad my youngest is 5 now. There's such a huge difference between a 2 yr old & a 5 yr old...whew! I'm worn out already! I do think I'll go get a treat to let the 2 yr old give to Sugar now, that's a great idea.
Thanks for listening!
