It's always nerve-racking when they have to have surgery. Just remember you're doing the right thing in spaying them if you're not going to breed them, and remember that it's over quickly. They should get good pain meds, and she'll be back to running and jumping around WAY before she's supposed to be. That's the hardest part of the spay-compared to the day of surgery, the next 10 days of keeping them low-key is the hardest part!
Request the the vet techs call you periodically-when she goes under anesthesia, when the surgery's over, when she's waking up, etc. That helped me get through the day.
I didn't leave either of my furgirls overnight when they were spayed. It is the vet's policy, but I refused, and brought both of them home on their spay days. I wouldn't allow them to stay overnight when there wasn't someone right by their sides all night, when I could bring them home and watch them all night. I did have to bring them back in the morning for a recheck, which worked well.
