Under CA law it is a theft if you appropriate property knowing it belongs to someone else and do not make reasonable efforts to locate the true owner. The problem here is that no one knows that whoever now has Zeke reasonably believes that the dog belongs to someone else. Many pages ago it was firmly believed that a blond woman was selling Zeke in front of a Walmart. The people who purchased Zeke would then not reasonably believe that the dog was appropriated. Maureen does not believe there is a connection between the Tahoe people and the blond woman, but who knows for sure.

If the people who have Zeke, did not get it from the blond woman, then we must remember how sure everyone has been in the past that Zeke was at that Walmart being sold and that this mirrors the level of sureness that Zeke is with the Grandmother of this kid.

Given the weakness of the evidence at this state, it is troublesome that people are suggesting that others engage in felonious conduct in order to confirm that Zeke is or isn't at some location. No one has a right to trespass, physically touch another and grab a dog they think might be Zeke, or badger and follow a child in the name of finding Zeke. The right to find Zeke ends where the rights of others begins.

I am sorry that these houses turned out to be dead leads. Hopefully, when the PI gets back into town, we can find out where the child's grandmother actually lives and get some photos.
