A question about dehydration. How do you deal with it? I know most of you will say, "take them to the vet" but I want to treat it myself. The last time I took a dog to the vet that had dehydration they gave him an injection of "water" under his skin.
I can do that.
When I asked about doing it myself they did their best to avoid answering me. I can get needles but they said that I would have to have a prescription for Lactate of Ringers and they wouldn't do it. It ended up that he was anemic and he stayed dehydrated for several days with me fighting to squirt water into his mouth with syringes.
Now I'm not stupid, I wouldn't try to treat my dog without a diagnoses but why should I have to go back everyday or maybe even more often when I can do it myself? It was like they wouldn't even consider it.
So, what do you do to tempt your babies to drink when they won't? Sylvia |
