Thanks for the information!! There is actually a wire frame that is about 1/2 the depth of the basket that secures on top of the basket to protect them from jumping out as well as being very sturdy in case of a fall. I might still get them little helmets. I remember a post from early in the Spring with two girls in very cute pink helmets!!!
