You have to have a solid line of good genes to produce vigor in pups. What caused the death of your pups..stillborn, faded shortly after, deformites of any type?
Did you raise the bitch from bitch...diet is vital to a future bitch..not quite as important to a stud in producing a healthy pup, but it will effect his vigor and stud life.
Have you had a porblem with any type of worms or other parasites? What is the sizes of the lost pups?
I could do on, but it would make this post too long. |
LOL I wish you had gone on but for now:
I believe all of my dogs have good lines but there were problems out here that I was not familiar with as they were not the type of problems we had out west.
Most of the puppies that died were just too little I think, they died within a few days of birth. The smallest I have had were 2.3ozs, but then again I have had puppies that size live.
Recently I found out we had coccidia. The debate goes on as to how we got it but my "mentor" sold her kennel and moved onto a farm until her house was ready. I have read that coccidia can come from chickens. She needed to downsize her kennel because she was having to stay on the farm for an extended period of time. I bought 3 of her females.
We had been losing the tinies shortly after birth before this happened and had one puppy come down with low blood sugar before that but we didn't lose her. It was just a 2 month long struggle.
Then more recently we discovered we had hookworms. We nearly lost a 7 month old male to that. As I said these are things we didn't have out west. Well, I suppose they were around but we never got them and didn't have to deal with them.
Please add on any more questions. Every question asked is more learned, good or bad, it all helps. Sylvia
