Thanks for all of the replies. When we are not home, we want to use the litterbox for our dog since it is in the area where we keep her. We use a gate to block her in the laundry room and that is where the litterbox is.
What I dont want to do is confuse her. She will go outside whenever she is out there so that is a good sign and she also knows to go in the litterbox. Recently, she now pees directly outside of the box so we started to put down newspaper lining outside of the littebox.
I am not sure if I should just scrap the litterbox and just put down a peepad for when we are not there. She uses the pads when we put them out.
She is a good dog and has the general idea but I think we should get into the habit of using the outside now that we can.
Any more thoughts?
