Are you using a harness rather than a colar? that might cut down on the choking. As far as the pulling goes you might want to enroll in a class at petsmart or something. What I do with mine is to keep them at my heel and when they start pulling I stop walking and put them in a sit , stay and waited until they calmed down. As soon as they start pulling again , tug and say no and stop if need be.
