Default More Info on Brooke

Brooke is 1 yr. old and 2 3/4 lbs. She just started being wobbly and my husband thought she might have had a stroke, because she would stumble and sometimes fall to one side. We initially didn't think it was very serious. She still eats like a champ and no vomiting or diarrhea. The vet thought that she might have hurt her back or her disc in her back but then her blood work came up abnormal. She went to an internal medicine specialist but they assessed that it was probably neurological. So we drove up to UC Davis Veterinary hospital, because if they couldn't figure it out, then no one would. They are the ones who did an MRI and a Cranial Spinal Tap and diagnosed her with GME. Luckily it doesn't look like she has the Necrotizing type that yorkies tend to get, that form is worse. She can go down 2 paths, the meds could work and she will go into a remission and we could have her for a year or more. Or if the meds don't work, she could be gone in a matter of weeks. We will know more in a week or so when she has another spinal tap and we will see if the meds are helping her white blood count go down. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, if love could cure her, she certainly would be cured!
