Thanks again and again.
All the messages are so encouraging and comforting. I haven't spoke with anyone this am...(so far)...but I know "no news is good news".
Her boyfriend is OK. I did see him in the hall, going in to see Sammy just as I left last night. His hand was bandaged and he was walking very slowely. I think he almost lost it when he went in and saw Sam all hooked up and the tong/traction stuff.
There was another fella, in the back seat, and I heard he was OK, but not sure of anyone else's injuries but Sam.
The nurses in Neuro ICU let her mom stay in the room with Sam last night....they are usually very strict about their visiting rules, but since Sam is a kid (technically an adult, but for the moment a child).......
I will keep you all updated.
Thanks again for all the words of hope!!! I am optomistic she will get better, but as a nurse I am realistic about the long road ahead of us all. But Sam is a tough girl and not afraid of some hard work. She was a 'star' soccer player and was looking forward to soccer in college. I know she will put as much energy into her rehab.....and that will be good for her! |
