I only use collars on my dogs for fashion purposes. So I LOVE rhinestone ones on my girls. When I had my male min pin he used to wear a spiked collar which was so cute on him because he looked like a "tough" baby doberman. But if I take my babies on a walk I use a harness. Still fashionable but safer for them.
