Don't worry about the cost for supplements-they should last a long time. The only thing I had a harder time finding online was Kelp Powder, but I ended up going to my local natural foods store, and it was CHEAP...like 56 cents or something an OUNCE. (BTW, they will ship, if you need more, and yours is really expensive, PM me and I will give you their website/number.)
I have made the doggie oats and the one to one on pg 71. I use different variations of the one to one-it's so easy! You can also cut that recipe in 1/2 easily. I have made it with stew-beef, kidney beans, brown rice, and carrots, and then subbed turkey, and egg for the meat, and sweet potato and corn for the carrots. I actually don't think the carrots are in there, but my dogs love them so I add veggies to everything.
Another idea-I use liquid Vitamin E oil drops in a bottle. Much cheaper and easier than the capsules. Just count the drops out! |
Wow that's a great deal on kelp. Mine was $14 for 16 oz. Almost $1 an ounce. I was looking at the 1-to-1 recipe and I was thinking I'd try that one next. Tetley likes carrots too so I added shredded carrots to his oats and I'd probably throw them in the 1-to-1 too.
I bought human grade bone meal powder but I think I'll go buy the solid gold bone meal next time, it's about the same price but twice the amount. I just bought this one for the sake of convenience. Solid Gold has a better calcium to phosphorus ratio though. Mine is 1000 mg calcium to 500 mg phosphorus.
Also...I DID buy the Vit E in the dropper bottle! But I think I put too much. How many drops do you use to make 100 iu?
I'm so happy to be doing right by my pup

He's my little everything
