My question is: Now that we have the new baby (almost 4mos old) how do I leave dry out for Ginger, so that ShyAnne won't eat it? And, how do I leave dry out for ShyAnne, so that Ginger won't eat it????

I don't know what harm the dry baby food would be for Ginger, but I don't think it wouldn't be good for ShyAnne to eat Ginger's adult dry food.

Anyone know how to handle this situation??

I would recommend that you put them both on a feeding schedule. That way, you can monitor how much they each eat, and you can be sure your little one is getting enough food. My vet told me to put the food down twice daily (more times for a puppy, of course), and leave it for 15 minutes. Whatever they eat, pick the food up after the time is up, and don't offer any more until the next scheduled meal time. Soon, they will learn to eat when food is offered. This also helps with the predictability of when they need to poop, which will help with potty training your new puppy.

Obviously, your new puppy will need to eat several times during the day, but keep this on a schedule as well, if possible. If you feel you must leave food down for the puppy, put the puppy in an x pen so that your older dog won't eat the puppy food.

Another tip: teach them whose food is whose. We feed each of ours on their own side of their placemat every time. It only took a week or two for them to catch on, and now they just go to the right bowl every time. Milli's food is always in the left hand, Emma's in the right-it also helps us keep Milli's puppy food separate from Emma's adult food, since they look so much alike, and their portions are different.
