I do not leave a collar on my yorkie because I have heard too many horror stories....One person's yorkie accidentally hung itself by jumping off of furniture and getting it caught on something. Someone else's yorkie ended up with missing teeth and blood all over the place because the yorkie was trying to get it's collar off, and it got stuck around the mouth. Well, you get the picture.
