i've had them before. they are quite cruncy and tasty, especially fried like chicken drumsticks. they do taste like chicken, but not alot of meat.
i also eat things like calamari (fried), some sushi, and escargot.
funny escargot story: my husband SWORE he'd never ever eat it. nope, noway, never. (married almost 10yrs now).
at the last place i worked they had a christmas party (2006) at a fancy place and set a appetizer sampler on the table. there were these yummy smelling things in a special oil/sauce in the middle.
eric, suspecting nothing, pops one into his mouth. (i had already been told that's what they were, but he didn't hear.)
"wow, these are REALLY good!" he says, putting another in his mouth.
"what is this??" he asks me...asking if anyone at the table wants the last one...
"escargot..." i answered him.
HAHA! should have seen his face. he now says he will eat them. his mother almost lost her lunch when he told her he now eats fish, sushi, escargot, and mussels. (he trusts me lots!!).
ah, good laugh there.
but on another note, the only thing i'd worry about was if the toad/frog had been there a while and was maybe rotten.
