Our Newman - very bad news. We just got back from our vet. Newman's tumor is back. Radiation is not an option for him. He would have to lie on his back sedated three to four times a week due to the location of the tumor. Newman cannot lie on his back due to a collapsed trachea. He's unable to breath that way. Also, the radiation would only prolong until the tumor came back. It would not cure it. We spoke about amputation and he's going to call the oncology dept. and see what the odds are if we amputate. He told us that within a week the foot would ulcerate and become a real mess and he would be in severe pain. At this point he's reccomending that it would prob. be best to put him down. We are such a mess. He's been our baby for ten years. We had him operated on in March and the tumor was removed and we were given about about a year with him before it would come back. It's only been four months and it's come back very aggressivly. It's a rare tumor that our vet has never seen. He's one of the best and has been around a long time. He did research on it and spoke to other specialists too and they have never seen a case like this. Please keep my baby in your thoughts. Elaine |
