Paddington had roundworm the last time we went to a vet. I was SO disgusted But the vet explained everything to me- how most puppies have roundworm because they get it from the mother etc. He gave Paddington a dose of meds right there, and gave me a dose to give him two weeks later. I have to take a stool sample back to the vet next week to make sure he is worm free now.

When you take your puppy to the vet, you should always take a stool sample just in case they ask for one. You should definitely take one the first one or two visits. If your puppy tests positive for worms, the vet will tell you how to handle it. I've learned SO much from my vet-he is the most valuable person (besides me of course ) in my puppy's life! Also ask your vet about any concerns you have regarding worms. They will tell you all abour prevention and how to recognize if your dog has certain kinds of worms.
