Huge scare! I wolk up this morning and everything was fine, we went about doing our regular routine, Kiko had his breakfast we went outside for a little walk. It was just after lunch time and was finishing the last stiches on the little bed I made for him. I get up to go to the kitchen and my little tail didn't follow me for the first time. He stayed laying down, I wasn't alarmed right away but I found it wierd since he always follows me around the house and I was getting used to it. I turned and called to him and he didn't move so I went to him talking to him as I picked him up, even though he was looking at me, he was very limp. I tried to put him down in a sitting position and he just fell over. I called my husband and when he took him into his arms Kiko's head was drooping!! I freaked out!! It sounded just like the post "Riley had vaccines now has head droop" posted by dianebezdek. What was worse it seemed like he was fading! It's hard to explain but it seemed like he wasn't with us or was fighting to be with us. I was hysterical, the vet I had been to wasn't open today and all the yellowpage listings I called were closed too. Then he started to vomit yellow goo and then sieze! I went nuts crying and my husband panicked. I went to my computer praying to find a vet's office that was open to help us. I went throught the yahoo listings called about seven numbers and kept getting an answering maching until finally I dialed a number and they said they were open and only ten minutes away! We jumped in the car and were on our way there when Kiko who already looked like he was starring into space started to make a paddling motion with his feet he had done it twice by the time we got to the office. As soon as I got there I handed him to the vet's assistant who turned from a welcoming smile to serious concerned look and took him away. It was horrible, my baby was gone and I didn't know what the heck was going on or if he was going to live. Anyway they were wonderful and the vet told me he was having a hypoglycemic attack. They took very good care of him especially Phil the assistant. We are soooooooo happy that he is now doing much better. The vet gave me some prescribed diet wet food (he said to worry about dry food when he's better) and nutri-cal. I am soo glad we found this vet and that he was open and that it didn't happen tomorrow because everything will be closed tomorrow! I will continue to go to this vet's office they were super nice especially Phil. I hope this thread helps someone in the future if there puppy starts to show the same symptoms. |
