I can both knit and crochet. The best sweaters I've made haven't used a pattern. I just knit/crocheted a rectangle that went from her collar to just before her tail. The width was wide enough to come halfway down her side. Then I just made a strip that connected the rectangle around the front of her neck. Sometimes I made a strap that went around her middle, with a button to attach. I don't know if that makes sense, but it's a lot easier to put on than trying to get her paws into the sleeves!!
