  Us too....basically same scenario....room by stairs and back door....it is stressful though and I would never do it again unless absolutely necessary (which this occasion happened to be since it was a family funeral, short notice and no other hotels available at all). To make things a little worse, the hotel locks the back door on the ground floor for security purposes, so I had to call my dh when I got back to the hotel from walking Max, so he could open the door...oh, I put Max in a carrier that looks like a big purse on the way out, got across the street or around the corner, took him out and walked him and then put him back in before getting back to the hotel. Just a hassle.
