Ziggy did that when we first brought him home...staring and barking at one spot. We think it was our Sheltie who died suddenly of a heart problem. It really made me cry because Willie would've loved Ziggy.
Also, sometimes Ziggy will stare intently right above my head like he sees a ghost...it really freaks me out.
