I emailed the company because when i measured Vinnie he was over 11 inches in girth, so he was right on the border of being able to get a size 2 or 3. Since he's only 8 months old the company suggested I get a size 3 so he has room to grow, they also suggested it's better to have it a little loose then too tight. I would measure him according to the company's website and if you question it, email them!
