One example I can give is when he wants to play, he will bring the toy over to me and drop it at my feet. If I don't respond, he will either nudge my leg with his nose or he will jump up and nudge my hand. If I ask what he wants me to do, he looks down at the toy, then back up at me. If I still don't do anything, he picks the toy up and literally puts it in my hand lol. That's just one example of so many more!
Can your yorkie(s) communicate what they want to you, and how do they do it? |
My parents yorkie does that exactly! When Lacy wants something (esp. when she's begging for food) she will nudge my leg with her nose. If that doesn't work she'll push off of my legs with her front feet or act like she's stretching a pawing at my legs (like a cat). If that still doesn't work she'll back up and make little growling noises and then bark. She'll also just stare at me sometimes.
She goes almost everywhere with me and hardly ever gets left at home so she always expects to go with me when I'm getting ready to leave. As soon as I pick up my purse and keys she runs to the door and wants me to pick her up to go (If she doesn't get her leash put on). It's sad when I do leave her because she looks at me with sad eyes like "You're not taking me?". Then when I get back home she is SO excited! She will jump up and down until I bend down and pet her and she gives me kisses. Then she runs around and attacks her toys and wants me to play with her.
When she barks and I tell her to hush sometimes she talks back to me by getting a last "woof" in (like a quieter bark)
