I have had both. Dish is the one that I like best. I left Direct (with them for 3 years) because they wanted a phone line behind all the receivers for them to work or I could only have 1 receiver on. It was not feasible for me to put phone lines behind all my tv's and they would not make exceptions. They did not try to resolve the issue until I had already left to go to Dish. I have been with now for 5 years. Good luck...
