Ok as a breeder and exhibitor I think I'll put my 2 cents in here. Yes, there is a breed standard that says not to exceed 7 pounds, silk coat, eyes, topline, etc. But, it seems that weight is discussed more than anything else on YT. The standard was written with the perfect yorkie in mind, there is no such thing. So a yorkie is 1, 2, 3, 4 or more pounds past the standard. Is the yorkie healthy? What about all the other qualities of the dog?

A poster is stated they got a yorkie for $300.00, great and excellent if it's healthy. Wonderful price, but very unusual. So, it weighs maybe one pound past the standard. Big deal. I have Champion females that weighed 6 pounds while showing in their prime. After a couple of litters, guess what 7 1/2 pounds, maybe 8. Women due tend to gain and spread after childbirth.

There is no perfect yorkie. Well! I'm sure most of you will disagree with me, your babies are all perfect, right?

By the way being AKC registered, doesn't necessarily make every AKC breeder a good breeder that is breeding quality dogs.
