A redleg is kind of a throw back so to speak. A yorkie that looks like one of the original ancesters, at least that's where we think the color and coat texture comes from. They are usually a bit longer of body, on the larger side, their hair is a bit harder and usually somewhat dry and brittle. They possess alot of strength and a strong depth of pigment. Breeders use them every 5th or 6th generation to bring color back into their lines. They are quite rare. Here's a pic of my redleg and one of a colleage.
