First of all: CONGRATULATIONS on your new addition! You're a wonderful person for thinking about your niece AND your new fur baby.
I'm still a yorkie talk newbie here, but I've heard of people using belly bands and putting maxi pads in there to prevent male yorkie's from marking their territories in the house. And I agree w/many others here to confine the amount of space for your new addition. I would also try to have some sort of a potty schedule so that he'll know when to go potty.
As far as the name change goes, I agree w/the others too. You should ask how your niece feels about the change first.
