My whole life I wanted to be a vet, until high school biology and dissecting stuff! Plus I definitely couldn't afford to be in school that long, so I decided on Pharmacy. I actually was more interested and not grossed out by dissections then! After my first year I switched to engineering. After my first year I switched to engineering technology. After my first year I wanted to switch to architecture but I knew I wouldn't have the money to finish the program, so I stuck with engineering tech. I'm done now and I have a job which I don't mind but it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life. Just my luck that halfway through my last year I found out about a Veterinary Technician program I could take... After I pay off some of my debt I think I'll go back to school for that!
My high school homeroom/physics/calculus teacher left his job the same year I graduated, so he could go back to school to become a dentist. When he told my class his decision he said something that has stuck with me ever since, and my friends always repeated it to me when I was unsure about my future.. "Nothing is EVER set in stone." So don't be worried about changing your mind! Even if you stick with something now and don't like it in a few years, you're never too old to go back!
