Is she having knee surgery? |
She has been diagnosed with Legges Perthes Disease (Articular Necrosis)...The onset is 5-8 months, hereditary, and high risk rate in Yorkies and other Terrier's. What this disease is is lack of blood flow to the top femoral bone. The bone dies off and becomes jagged and painful. She stopped using her left rear leg appx. 3 weeks ago. I could have taken her back to the breeder but not an option. I love her to death and the breeder in most cases probably would have had to put her down.
With proper care after surgery she should be good to go and this disease does not jump to the other hip. Most likely she will be arthritic when she is old. It's been a house full of bunched nerves around here, kinda sad.
