He'll definetly be okay with a name change seeing as he'll be properly cared for know. Has he been neutered? That helps a real lot. All I can say is take him out a lot, and praise and treat like crazy when he goes. It's going to take some patience on both your parts considering where he has come from, but hang in there and it will all be worth it. Let's see some pictures.
