I found a great alternative to rubber bands and clips. Little banana clips, made for little kids,has teeth on both side, and is spring loaded. You press both sides , the clip opens, and then put the hair in the clip then release,it stays in great and does not come out! I found these at Walmart in the hair brush section. I love bows, but this seems to work really well, and they are easy to use.They make them in several small sizes too.
