There is a difference between a yorkie and a pitty. Yorkies are smaller. But that same "tenacity" that we admire in our yorkies, their unwillingness to let go in a fight is the same quality that has been bred for to perfect pitch in a pit bull. The same quality that makes Dixie my little hunter and Dougal my protector is the same thing that makes a pitbull dangerous when its scared.
So yes humans are to blame. We are the ones that have bred these dogs, we're the ones that fail to adequately control them. Banning the breed isn't going to work because the same people who breed pitbulls for fighting now will just find other agressive dogs to breed.
It's no co-incidence that it is terriers (silkys and JRTs) that have been killed in these fights. |
