I made that mistake also ... Monday is not an escape artist, but I feared that she could slip out of it while it was on her.
She is not getting bigger, she is already 4 yrs. 10 months old.
So I know the "S" will never fit her.

therefore, I ordered a new one in XS and that solved the problem ...

someone got a good deal on my "S" one, I sold it for $10...
I felt good selling it for 50% off and helping someone else ....
