I have the same problem all the time when we take Max out to dinner. It's amazing how some kids know better and are very polite and respectful of the dog's space, and others are totally off the radar. Max isn't used to children, since we don't have any and nobody we're around has small children either. So he's really not comfortable with them. I had a large parrot that I used to take a lot of places with me and it's amazing how many people think they can just come up to a strange animal and poke their hands in their faces. Max coudn't do anywhere nearly the damage by biting that my bird could, and I was always aware of the liability factor, so I became very good at telling people "DO NOT TOUCH MY BIRD...HE BITES, and when he bites, he can remove a finger"....I got to the point, that I don't care if these losers think my pet is cute or nice.....the animal doesn't know them, and neither do I...I don't want them touching my pet at all unless they can respect their boundaries, and I have no problem saying so anymore
