Well I got the results yesterday and my Trink does indeed have cushings, as I suspected back in April. Now the plan of attack is the use of Lysodren. Has anyone had or know of anyone that has had experience with this drug. Its similar to chemo for a human, it destroys the adrenal glands and the trick is to catch it before it goes to far and destroys too much and then that could put him into Addisons disease. Its a dance with Lysodren and Prenisdone. Then ACTH test periodically for the rest of his life. I am deathly afraid of this drug for obvious reasons... There is also another drug Ketaconazole that does not have the damaging affects and if he has a reaction you simply stop administering it and no real need for blood work as there is no damage done. There is also Anipryl, which my vet says flat out does not work. The internet is a dangerous place but I have read otherwise but its not widely used as its only works in 60% of dogs or so and it takes up to 3 months before it can be determined its not working.
I know my baby is not comfortable although tries to be happy. He is with is Nana now as thats where he is the happiest hanging out with my moms 3 dogs.
Anyone that has any experience or info regarding Cushings, please feel free to PM me. I will be at the vets on Monday armed with many printed things from the internet, but I much rather have solid fact from a YT member who has experienced this disease firsthand. |
