I would also check with the place where it is being held. Last weekend we had a family reunion at a community center where my cousin's daughter works. They gave us the whole building for free! My cousin and I planned the whole thing, and we both are dog lovers. I really didn't think that it was any big deal to have a dog there, but I did not plan to take mine. Well, my cousin has a Coton, and she takes it EVERYWHERE. She works for American Airlines and travels with it. She wanted to bring it to the reunion, and I asked my cousin's daughter if it would be okay. She said "no". Well, Joy brought her anyway.

I felt bad for Liz who had the responsibility of making sure the place was in good shape when we left it and was really in charge there. Everything was just fine in the end, but when someone (Liz is a college student) has a big responsibility, and her job is part of it, I would really think that it should be respected. Ask first and respect the answer.
