Do you have a fenced yard that she can practice in? If so, I'd take some of her poop out there and leave it. When you think she may need to go, take her out and have her smell the old feces (dogs often stimulate themselves to "go" by smelling old feces). You may have to stay out with her for ages and ages, but be ready with really yummy treats. If she does go outside, treat heavily and praise in an excited little-girl voice like she just cured cancer! Make it party.

Thank you for the responses all We have a huge back yard but it is pool decked rather than grass. I can get her to do both on a potty pad out there but I do need for her to be able to go when we are out and about. She gets very excited when we put her leash on as she knows she's going for a walk. I guess I'll just keep trying
