Default Room Temperature for Newborn Puppies

Does anyone know how long it is before newborns can regulate their own temperature? It seems like I had read about two weeks. Is that right? I am wondering because the nursery is also my home office and I am really getting hot in here!!! (I have to work in here all day). When can I lower the temperature? They are already in a wire crate covered with a blanket on 3 sides and a crib bumper pad on all four sidesto avoid drafts. They are one week old today and have already both doubled their birth weights. I really don't want to do the heating pad, though I do have one. The reason is there isn't that much room for mom to get very far away and I would hate for her to be any hotter. Any help would be appreciated. TIA
