I asked the Vet about luxating patellas last night when I took Kalina for her check-up. She said that her legs are fine now, but that LP often worsens and shows up as the dog gets older (although sometimes it is noticeable immediately and, if they are going to have it later they usually have "loose" patellas as puppies). She said one of the signs is hopping on three legs and another one is they will stretch out one of their legs and the knobby part will pop back into the joint but you think they are just stretching. Usually there isn't much pain in the beginning and it can be corrected with surgery like Diesel just had if it's a bad case.
It's really something that you just have to keep an eye on and have your Vet check every time you take your dog there. In many cases it's mild and the dog just gets by fine.
