You contact AKC fot the DNA kit. Inside the envelope when you get it contains the directions and the swab. Follow the directions carefully so you can get a clear, true sample and not have to redo it. You send the sample back to AKC and they will do the DNA and send you back his certificate/number. Your vet can also help you do the swab. I had mine help do the first one, just to make sure I did it right. But will cost you his office visit.
If you are not going to breed him and there is no question on his parentage - you do not need to get it done, unless you just want to have it.
