As an adult - Foxfire's blue was super straight and fine. His gold was always soft and a lot in quantity. I would say he was never silky, but the blue - actually very dark blue (it did break later) and the blue was not as soft as his gold. I hope this helps. I loved him very much and he was a great dog. We never finished him, since he had pulled out all his wraps with his coat in them one night. This is where I learned never wrap at night and go to bed. Try a few and see how the dog accepts them first. Well, I never showed him much later as an adult - had to wait for coat. As a pup - he won his class every time!
