Default red eyes/infection for 4 months!

Okay I really just need to vent a little and also wonder if this has ever happened to anybody here.

So back in March I had a jar of that contaminated Peter Pan peanut butter and of course one night before heading to the library where I had to study for 2 mid-term exams and write two term papers, I ate a huge spoonful of the PB so I wouldn't pass out, I'm on adderall for ADD and sometimes if I dont' get enough protein and I don't get much sleep I pass out. Anyway about 3 hours later I was vomiting and very sick, went to the hospital and turns out I had salmonella and an intestinal bacteria. I didn't recover for about 1.5 half after being on very strong antibiotics and about 3 more ER visits.

Well around this time, my right eye and my left eye a little too got completely red and really dry, I'm a contact lens wearer and discontinued wearing contacts the 3rd week fo march and haven't been in them since, because my right eye just won't heal, I've been to specialist after specialist and they all tell me to keep lubricating my eye and that the top layer of my cornea which is the toughest layer is very dry and they could practically peal it off.

I'm really worried that I'm going to have permanent corneal damage and its just frustrating that for 4 months I have been using eye drops diligently and this eye just won't heal. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this at all?
