Short snouts and eyes that are set closer together are generally regarded as a baby doll face. It's really all in the breeding.. some breeders choose to breed the baby doll face or teddy bear ears whereas some prefer the longer snouts. Maltese have many different looks on them too.. my Malt has a very long snout but I have seen some baby doll faced Maltese that look like little toys and nothing like my little guy. It does seem that the baby faced Maltese tend to do better in the show ring than the longer snouted ones. I think for pets though get the face style that you like the most whether it's in or not.
