Sounds to me like she wants attention or feels lonely. Does she have toys in there that she can entertain herself with, or a stuffed animal. Sammy has a teddy bear that's almost his size and every now and then I'll see him curled up with it.
I have also heard that if you leave a ticking clock with them, like wrapped in something, that's suppose dto help, but I've never tried it.
